Rebecca Nickell is a registered patent attorney who combines nine years of semiconductor industry experience with extensive patent drafting and prosecution practice. She focuses on semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor devices, and advanced packaging. Her experience also includes displays, consumer electronics, and consumer-facing software.

Rebecca, a chemical engineer by training, worked as a process engineer at ST Microelectronics, supporting semiconductor device fabrication, where her work included chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), wafer thinning, and backside metallization. Her responsibilities spanned process development, capital equipment qualification, statistical process control, and new technology ramp-ups. She also worked as a field process engineer, supporting semiconductor equipment installations at customer sites worldwide. This hands-on experience gives her a practical understanding of how semiconductor devices are manufactured.

In private practice, Rebecca led a patent preparation and prosecution group focused on semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor devices, and advanced packaging. Her work has also included freedom-to-operate analysis, patent invalidity and non-infringement studies, and patent portfolio management. Between her engineering and legal practice, she served on the law faculty at Concordia University School of Law and Phoenix School of Law.
