Will Pigott is a registered patent attorney with more than 15 years of experience helping technology companies secure and grow their intellectual property. His practice centers on patent preparation and prosecution, strategic portfolio development and management, and practical counseling on patents and other IP. He is experienced in negotiating patent scope with the USPTO and in aligning patent strategy with his clients’ business and product roadmaps.
Will has drafted and prosecuted patent applications across a broad range of technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, optics and image sensing, AR/VR, LIDAR and autonomous vehicles, semiconductor processes and circuits, memory architecture and testing, processor-related technologies, wireless and telecommunications standards, cloud security, analytics and predictive modeling, software and user experience design, financial and tax preparation systems, and mechanical technologies. He has also conducted patent portfolio due diligence to support acquisition and purchase recommendations, and has prepared non-infringement and invalidity analyses and opinion letters.
Before joining Alliance IP, Will served as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel at RapidSOS, where he built upon and managed the company’s patent portfolio, working directly with product and engineering teams to identify inventions, make filing decisions, and prosecute applications. He previously owned a solo IP practice and has practiced at regional, international, and boutique law firms.
Earlier in his career, Will worked as an image sensor product engineer at Micron Technology, where he focused on CMOS image sensor yield analysis and testing, and as a systems test engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He holds a J.D. from the University of Washington and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Utah State University.
Outside of his legal practice, Will competes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, is an archery hunter, dabbles in mountaineering, and enjoys winter skiing with his family.
