Derek Casper is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in patent prosecution, litigation, licensing, and IP due diligence. He has represented clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to individual inventors, working across diverse technologies including semiconductors, microprocessors, memory, storage devices, touch sensors, networking and cellular protocols (LTE and LTE-A), hybrid vehicle systems, mechanical devices, software, and business methods.

Derek has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of U.S., PCT, and foreign patent applications, handling everything from pre-filing assessments to appeals, reissue applications, and post-grant proceedings. His litigation experience spans case assessment, pleadings, discovery, prior art searching, invalidity and infringement contentions, IPR strategy, and claim construction briefing. He also has significant licensing experience, including drafting agreements, mining portfolios for valuable assets, preparing claim charts, developing infringement and validity arguments, and supporting patent assertions. Before joining Alliance IP, Derek practiced at both a multinational law firm and an IP boutique, and served as in-house counsel for one of the world’s largest patent licensing companies. Earlier in his career, he worked in R&D at a multinational corporation, focusing on high-speed interconnects and microprocessor cache memory.
